First elected as Texas Governor in 2015. Current term expires Jan. 2027. Running for re-election; won the Republican primary and will be on the November 2026 general election ballot.
Previously served as Texas Attorney General from 2002 to 2015. Served on the Texas Supreme Court from 1996 to 2001.
Endorsed in the 2022 general election by the editorial board of the Dallas Morning News. He also received their endorsement in the 2022 Republican primary election and in the 2018 election.
